Angelus Memorial Park
Originally named Evergreen Memorial Park, Angelus Memorial Park was established in Anchorage in 1951, and performed our first burial in 1952. By 1955 the total 37 acres we currently manage were purchased. In 1964 our name was changed to Angelus Memorial Park Inc. This is our parks headquarters and main operational base.
Valley Memorial Park
Originally named Valley Memory Gardens, Valley Memorial Park in Matanuska Valley was acquired in 1983 after previous ownership neglected the park. Angelus was contacted by the State of Alaska and asked to take over its care. Although smaller in size at only about 7 acres, this cemetery has some astonishing mountain views.
We are Alaska’s first perpetual care park – establishing a fund dedicated to preserving the history entrusted to our sacred grounds.
Non-Profit & Non-denominational
Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery Inc. is a non-profit corporation that is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees. By purchasing spaces you become a member of the non-profit and thus get to elect our leadership, helping shape the operations of our parks.
Both parks are non-denominational so families of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to choose plots in any of our gardens regardless of title.

News & Updates
Board of Trustees
Our board of trustees consists of members who have chosen to volunteer their time and potential expertise in order to protect and advance our parks. Each seat is held for a term of 3 years. Once a year we invite members to our Annual Meeting held for the purpose of holding elections for board seats as well as sharing information about the years of accomplishments. We pride ourselves in providing members transparency about decisions made within the parks we manage.
Membership
Our non-profit is made up of members who own burial spaces within our parks. When a seat on our Board of Trustees is up for election members vote. Voting is defined by the following standard:
- Each space purchased equals one voting share of our non-profit.
- Each member has a maximum of 2 votes regardless of total number of spaces owned.
- Multiple people can be listed on a deed for a space but only one vote is assigned per space. If multiple people are listed on the deed for a specific space one person is assigned as the voting member.
